Hi,

Is there any tutorial deck file available for snap fit analysis using Optistruct implict (OS-E-0170: Snap-Fit analysis (CONSLI vs FINITE)) ?

Regards,

Arul

    Hi,

the solver deck should be in:

    <install_directory>/demos/hwsolvers/optistruct/examples/snap-fit.fem

Thanks for sharing. How the load card (Displacement) is defined  ?

The SPC's are aggregated (SPCADD) into SUM load collector. Load collector named Up for some reason contains 6 SPC loads on the same RBE2 master node, 5 loads constraining only its own DOF and one is prescribing imposed displacement of 25 units in Z (3) direction.

Usually imposed displacements are defined by analysis>constraints> set load types to SPCD and pick DOF and prescribed displacement. Note: the nodes that are constrained with spcd must also be constrained with spc with the same dof with the same enforced displacement value.

    Hi,

Why we constrained separately (1,2,3,4 &5) in the same collector?. Why we did't constraint like 12345 on the RBE2 Master?

I do not know why each DOF is constrained in a separate load, but the end effect is the same if constrained by one load in multiple DOF and it is more manageable this way.

    Hi ,

Thanks for your reply. But I have clarification regarding stress output. At which point we need to consider the output stress and displacement?

The output of the solver must be requested in advance within your input file. E.g. by requesting STRESS, DISPLACEMENT, STRAIN etc.

In HyperMesh, you can find the output requests under Setup>Create>Control Cards>Global Output Requests. This will define the output for all of your OptiStruct subcases.
Or you can card edit your loadstep to request output for single OptiStruct subcases.

Choose format as H3D if you want the results written out to H3D, opti will write it out to OP2
