Applying acceleration load for linear static analysis

Hi,

I wanted to know how can we apply an acceleration load for a linear static structural analysis. This is the prerequisite for a buckling analysis to be done

I am using version 13

    Hi @gopal_rathore

ACCEL, ACCEL1 and ACCEL2 cards enable acceleration loading at Specific GRID Points.

Unfortunately, this functionality is only supported since version 14

Hi @Ivan Any alternative to do such in 13 version

Here is a work around to apply acceleration load using GRAV card to only a part/component of the structure. Change the material density to zero where you don’t need acceleration load to be applied and retain material density to the parts/component where you want acceleration load to act.

Or you can manually apply acceleration forces (F=m*a) on each node, where m is mass of individual node.

    Hi,

I did the first option, but as this being a buckling mode check analysis where mass will play important role. If I make density as zero, mass becomes zero

Yes, you are right (I overlooked you have to subsequently perform buckling analysis).

So the only option is to apply the acceleration loads manually like described above.

Anybody could share the screenshot of the acceleration load application during the loadsteps creation (right before optistruct analysis)?

It give me an error saying: *** ERROR # 1125 *** in the input data:
ACCEL requires at least one continuation card.

    What did u do wrong?

    Hi,

The ACELL requires an additional table. A minimum of two pairs of (LOCi and VALi) should be specified. Refer to the attached documentation for more info. Card edit the load to access continuation lines.
