Boundary condition placement and Int Beam
Hi,
I am creating a rope and pulley arrangement. Now, I wish to place the pulley boundary conditions such that it only rotates. Can you tell if the boundary condition is right because as per my understanding I need to define another coordinate system at the center of the pulley about whose z axis should it be able to rotate. So I am guessing the current Placement is wrong.
2) The pulley's only purpose is it should rotate and remain rigid. Should I still define the meshing and everything else on it. As I want it to remain rigid and rotate.
3) As I am using the integrated beam in the beam pic. I am using the reference guide of Radioss to input the values. It states local coordinate. which coordinate system is it talking about. Is the local coordinate system present for each individual part like the pulley and beam?
yours sincerely,

Hi Kartik,
For a pulley rope modelling case, model the pulley with Type 12 spring, which is a pulley type spring element. This spring element has to be defined with 3 nodes.
Please go through the Help Menu on the same.
I'm attaching a simple video which shows the simulation of the same.

The video is still not playing.
Could you help me figure out the above queries using beam element only first. I will later take another element.
thanking you,

Hi Kartik,
Apologies for a delayed response.
Please go through the attached files which uses beam element with Type 12 spring. You can try with a similar approach.
