Size Optimization
Hi,
I have attached model here that I want to optimize .
This model has 3 regions. 1-> 17 plies each 0.02' thickness. 2-> core ply of 0.3' and 3 plies both sides of 0.02' thickness. 3-> core ply of 0.6' and 3 plies both sides of 0.02'.
3 PCOMPP are used for above 3 regions.
The maximum deflection from static run is 0.0191'.
My aim is to limit the deflection to 0.010'.
Constraint : Ply shape and ply thickness should not be changed.
We can add plies with same shape and same thickness.
Do we need to link design variable for 3 different PCOMPP? If yes then what should be the approach for that.
Please guide me the procedure of the optimization to solve this problem.

Hi Prakash,
I tried method mentioned by you and it worked.
My problem is , i want to reduce displacement by optimization. I met my allowable displacement by sizing , but again it has gone up after shuffling.
What should be my appraoch of optimization if i want to meet certain displacement value after sizing and shuffling.

My idea would be to run a Size optimization with the manufacturing thickness on each ply which is equal to the current thickness of the respective plies and also a laminate thickness limit.
