How to understand stress(von-mises) results in case of shell element ?
Hi,
von Mises criteria ia a failure criteria which predict failure, using this information user can say his design will fail. The von Mises yield criterion states that if the von Mises stress of a material under load is equal or greater than the yield limit of the same material then the material will yield.
I suggest you to go through failure theories in open web resources to understand more on this concept.
Do you miss the course 'Strength of Materials'?
I am ok with SOM but want to understand what stress in shell element mean ?
how to deal with shell element ?
I recommend you to go through Practical Aspects of Finite Element Simulation (A Study Guide) ebook where we covered a section on How To View And Interpret Results. Please go through it.
