Geometry changing when using solid edit command

I am attempting to partition a component and am getting a point collapse, destroying a curved surface that is needed in the component. The partition is desired as there are two separate materials in this product that are bonded. Is there a way to avoid this collapse?

Is it possible to share the file?

also, which option are you using to split the solid in solid edit panel?

I cannot share the file as it is for a university client. I am using trim with lines, bounding and with sweep lines gives the same effect

creating node points along the lines of interest and using Solid Edit - trim with plane/surf fixed the issue
