Simulation of Rope

Good Morning Everyone,

                                        I am facing problems in simulating rope behaviour in optistruct. I used rod elements for simulating rope. First I used two rod elements for rope and I merged rod elements and applied gap element with CGAP property. But it is not working properly. My objective is to find the stress and deformation in tower (ropes are connected to tower and pretension is also applied to ropes). Please guide me

1) how to use gap elements with proper orientation

2) How to apply pretension on ropes

3) Non-linear analysis set up required for this problem

It should work with Rod element.With latest version of 14.0 you can also apply pretension & carryout Nonlinear analysis.Check Optistruct user guide for more details. Please refer Optistruct online tutorials.
