Compression spring model

Hello,

I am trying to perform impact analysis and my model contains a compression spring which works under axial loading. Which model should I choose? Will P4_SPRING be OK? Does K parameter refer to spring stiffness? Could anybody shed some light on the matter? Thanks in advance.

If I understood correctly, you can use type 4 and also check type 8 spring.

Thank you very much. Is MASS parameter literally a mass of a spring? My spring weighs 0,002 kgs and has K = 3120 N/m. Will it be enough if i fill in only these two spaces in a P4_SPRING definition?

Provide the load vs engineering strain curve. Please check the sample on Radioss help.

MASS parameter defines Mass per spring element or M/l0 depending on flag I_leng

In case of linear stiffness you can use K parameter (again subject to I_lengflag). If nonlinear stiffness is required please use func_ID1 referenecing a load vs engineering strain curve.

Yeah, choose the Ileng carefully, or it completely changes the results (Kg or Kg/mm..??)
