Contact Problems
Hi,
I am trying to do a contact problem. In the pulley and the rope in the given model. I could not find suitable material for understanding the same. Can anyone give me a link for the material to understand contact? Like which type represents which contact?
Also in the below pic if you observe I am unable to define contact between rope and pulley?
As I have been using ANSYS it asks me all the formulations needed as well when we define a contact problem.
Also in the student license if we use Hypercrash I could not use the radioss solver as export option is not working. Is there an alternative to use radioss from Hypercrash.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
Thanking you,
yours sincerely,

Hi Kartik,
I'm attaching a document which shows several interfaces are available in RADIOSS. I recommend you to download Crash Analysis With RADIOSS – A Study Guide ebook which covers these interfaces in detail with examples.
Define a Type 7 interface between rope and pulley and try running.
Normally the export option should work for HyperCrash. There are no other alternatives to run RADIOSS in HyperCrash. This could be an installation issue. Try in HyperMesh and run it from the same.

Hi,
I am uploading the h3d file of the file that I have completed. I have given type 7 interface. Is the interface setup correct?

Hi,
Since one end is fixed you are getting such a behavior for the model, But I dont think you will get the expected behavior of pulley simulation. You can try with /PROP?TYPE12 spring for the same.
