hi my name is mehdi and I begun using hypeworks in 2017 for project with Altair.

In this project i m gonna make a simulation of impacts on a reactor of an airplane A320.

I face some problem to make the propeller of the reactor turn.

To make it turn i create a moment in a node which is located at the center of the propeller of the reactor.

But in the results i didn't observe the rotation of the propeller i have 0 as displacement.

How can I fix this please.

    Hi Mehdi,

You can simulate rotation in RADIOISS using imposed velocity (/IMPVEL) load collector, where  choose XX, YY, or ZZ direction for rotation.

    Hi Mehdi,

This seems like you didn't assign the property to the components.

For components select card image as part and assign material and property, and try running the analysis.

it s already done but may be it s problem of thickness because it s not fixed

    Hi Mehdi,

What analysis are you trying to perform?. Is it like fan blade out?

i m gonna perform  the Sph and ALE methods on the reactor but i the propeller doesn't want to turn when i use a moment or rotational velocity. So we al ready try those methods but the propoeller not moving and know i want to resolve this problem to finish our study

    Hi Mehdi,

I think you are trying for a fan blade out simulation and you want to model the impactor with SPH. If this is wrong please correct me.

Create a rigid for the blades and assign this imposed velocity to the master node of the rigid body. Please try this approach.

    i try somthing

1D ==> rigid i choose a node a the center of the blades but not on it

i select the blades as compenent and i obtain a set when i click on create

    is that corret?

    Hi Mehdi,

We have a similar tutorial available, bird strike analysis on aircraft wing leading edge.

I recommend you to go through the same as it covers most of the aspects. You can access the same at : https://altairuniversity.com/learning-library/bird-strike-analysis-on-an-aircraft-leading-edge-using-sph-bird-model/

my problem isn't the Sph method or the AlE my problem is that i can't make the blades turn that 's all

    Hi Mehdi,

In the above tutorial creating rigids is shown and so you can follow the same methodology for creating rigids in your case.

As mentioned in the last reply, assign the imposed velocity to the master node of the rigid body in required direction and thereby you can rotate the blades.

A similar snapshot is shown below. For the blades a rigid body is created.

    Hi Mehdi,

The error shows that you have not created a function for imposed velocity load collector. A velocity vs time function has to be created (XY plots>>curve editor) and the same has to be recalled when defining the load.

But the model seems like having many modelling errors. Please run the model checker (Tools>>Model Checker>>RadiossBlock) so that it will list out the errors in the model.

If you are a new user to RADIOSS, I strongly recommend you to practice some of the basic tutorials and start working on this project so that you will get easily familiarized with the tool.
