I am modelling a sandwich composite with glass fiber plies and a Honeycomb core. I am not sure how to accurately model to the honeycomb core using the MAT8 cards. How can i model the compressive strength of the honeycomb?

Let us know how are you planning to model your honeycomb, what material properties you have and are you using a isotropic mat for honeycomb.
Using MAT8 for honeycomb you can give a small E1 and E2 (as dummy properties) and provide the length and width shears (G1Z and G2Z) which you can get from material supplier.
If you are planning your model with solid elements, you can use MAT9ORT to provide E3 value
