cylindrical coordinates in a segment of a cylinder

Dear Sir,

I am analysing a cylinder that is symmetric every 1/10 of 360o. I therefore consider only 1/10 of the cylinder (image of the part is attached).

I want to create cylindrical coordinates and use them to constraint the angular displacement (theta) on the surfaces that are been cut from the original cylinder.

I therefore create a cylindrical coordinate system  and constraint the DOF2 (correct?) on these surfaces.

Is it possible to then apply force in the original cartesian coordinate system (not the cylindrical one)?

From what I understood I should specify which nodes have to be in cylindrical coordinates and which in cartesian.

What if I want to apply the force in cartesian coordinates on the same nodes that I want to constraint in cylindrical coordinates? Is that possible?

Thank you in advanced

    Hi Mike30,

Create a cylindrical coordinate system.  After this to go to the systems panel a assign sub panel and then select “loads” from toggle between nodes and loads, select the system and then use “set reference”. You can then card edit the constraints and see if the CID changes or not.

I think yes, you can create force on global system. When creating force do not select any local system.
