Hello,

is it possible to run a topology optimization maximizing the von-Mises stresses to a state of a Fully Stressed Design ?

I want to optimize a reinforced concrete beam under a given load.

The respons should be to minimize the mass/volume by optimizing the concrete towards its main compressive stress (reaching a Fully Stressed Design). Is this possible by using the stress constraint definition of optistruct ?

Thanks for your answer.

    Hi,

    This should be possible.

You can provide the stress constraint on DTPL card.

    Thank you for your answer.

How would i do that ? My idea was the following setup:

Optimization Responses: 1 mass, 2 static stress

Optimization Constraints: response = stress, upper bound = -25 N/mm²

                                                                                    lower bound = -25 N/mm²

    Objectives: minimize mass

Would that give me the soulution i need ?

    Thanks again for your help.

    Hi,

You can use, but instead, use stress constraint on DTPL (-25) and check if this helps.
