topology optimization (fit in design space ERROR #312)
Hello,
i´m trying to do a topology optimization of a motorhousing of an ebike. there already is a working model of this ebike.
i imported my design space as a .step file (shown in orange in the picture) and created new contact surfaces where the design space is attached to the pipe recievers and edited the old contacts by changing the old vs the new contact surface. There was no node to node contact before.
After that i organized the red elems of my design space to the non design space (2 different comps) and assigned both their individual property.
When i try to run the optimization the process is stopped by error # 312. I looked up many topics regarding this topic but couldn´t find an answer which helped in my case.
The compliance is always too large which means by my understanding that the model 'flys away'. So there has to be a issue with the boundary conditions i think. In every selected loadstep my boundary conditions (SPC´s) are assigned.
Which means in my understanding the problem has to be ether the connection between the design and non-design space or the connection between the design space and the rest of the model but i cant fix it.
Do you have any advice in this case?

HI,
If you are confindent about boundary conditions, then please check the units (materials, loads etc..), model dimensions.

Hi,
thanks for the quick answer. Material, loads, etc. are also correct. Is it possible to check the connection between two components in hypermesh 14?
Is it possible to create a connection between a solid which is meshed with trias and tetras and element size 2 and a solid which is solid map meshed with hexa elems and element size 1?
I just looked up some more topics where people refer to a layer of pyramid elements around the tetra mesh to be able to create a contact between those. Is this nessesary?
If so, how do i do it?
Thank you for you help!

Hi,
You can create rigids between two components or use FREEZE contacts.

Hi,
so there shouldn`t be a problem within the contact definition eventough i´m using different meshing typs for the connected components/solids?

I dont think that is a problem at all,
Is it possible to share the model file?
Please use the file transfer link in my signature to share the model file

Hi,
i solved my problem by using the auto connect tool. Probably made a mistake within the contact surface definition while not using auto connect.
But thanks for your help!
