Can any explain the pros and cons of using Igap2 vs Igap3 in type 7 contact (crash analysis)?

Size of the mesh is taken into account to avoid initial penetration if you use Igap= 3, but this is not the case with Igap= 2

The explanation for Igap explains the mesh size consideration. I was wondering if this has been explained in theory of how the Contact algorithm works and the effects of the Igap parameter on the overall simulation- contact, energy balance and the difference in the results.
