connections

Hi,

which is the best element to define connections between components in cars and buses?? spring elemments or rigids??

How to check whether i has assigned connections between all components?? in radioss cant do modal analysis to check the free component.

Hi Guru,

Rigid elements is going to be the stiffest connection and will not allow any model failure. But most of them follow modelling with spring elements. It is mesh independent and you can model failure.

You can try with Find Connectivity tool (Tools>Find Connectivity) to check the connectivity between two or more components. A document is attached which details about this tool.

Also, from mask panel (F5) select an element and mask everything using by attached option. The elements/components that are not connected will not be masked by this operation.

Hi,

There are various connection elements like rigids, spring, spot welds.beam elements etc. If you can go for some small joint sample testing in buses or cars and co-relate it in CAE using various connection elements a better understanding of connections can be gained.

For eg. as in springs, we can go initially with default high stiffness values and during co-relation this data can be as per requirement.
