Supersonic flow simulation
hello everyone,
AcuSolve 2021 has already been released.
In this version, AcuSolve introduce the capabilitiy of SuperSonic Flow simulation.
I have already tried the new tutorial for this feature.
But, i have some questions regarding to the simulation type of this supersonic flow simulation.
1st question is i can only set the analysis type is transient with very small time step & short final time.
Why can't i choose the type as "steady state" for this simulation?
In Fluent, i can select the type as steady state for supersonic flow.
Another question is, for this supersonic, how can we choose the time increment & final time if we run transient?
Anyway, i'm very glad to see AcuSolve growing very fast.
Thank you very much!

This is the first release including supersonic flow. The supersonic solver is CFL-limited, so does require transient, at least for now. One likely needs to do a sensitivity on the time step size (time increment) to see how large the value can be and still get good results for the particular simulation.

thanks acupro for your information.
Hope that AcuSolve will improve this feature in the future.

Hi, one question about the supersonic flow capability: is this only available in Hyperworks CFD or AcuConsole as well? I have AcuConsole 2021 installed as well, but the supersonic flow option does not seem to be available there.

You are correct. AcuConsole does not support some of the newer features available with AcuSolve - transonic/supersonic compressible flow being one of them - as HyperWorks CFD continues to develop and improve.

Hi acupro, thanks for the info. Will AcuConsole see continued development or will the focus shift entirely to Hyperworks CFD?

The development in AcuConsole will be very minimal as the effort shifts to HyperWorks CFD, expanding AcuSolve support with its integrated Pre and Post.
