Is it possible to set up the optimization objective to be the maximum disp of a component?
Hi all,
In hypermesh, a specified node displacement can be set as the optimization objective. However, if only the maximum displacement of a component should be optimized, the maximum location may be changed during iteration, how to set up this optimization problem?

Hi @Roy Duan
I don't have an answer for this now, I can suggest that 'SELECT all nodes of the component' but this may or may not help as relative displacement between node should be zero.
Let me check if it is possible using DEQUATION.

I'm looking forward to your reply.
In general, we can define a special node displacement as response and the objective is set as the maximum response. Is it possible to set the maximum displacement of a component as the optimization objective?

Hi Roy,
is it a single component or multiple components in the model?
Can you share a picture of the model, please?

There are multiple components in my model. But the displacement of a non-design component should be optimized.
Any model will be ok to test this.

Hi Roy,
I am trying to imagine your problem.
You have a C1 and C2 components and you want to displace the C2 component but without affecting the design of C1 component?
Is it correct?
If both the components are connected, displacing one will affect the other.
You can try with shape optimization where you can move the nodes (describe shape).
