Preparing & simplifying of geometry should be done on the goal of your analysis.
Different analysis on the same geometry need different preparing job.
Keep geometry in mixed mode to see component colour & topological lines.Red colour region would have connectivity problem.If gap is less than .1mm then you can use Geometry: Edge edit: equivalence .PFA screenshot for same.
