Hi,

As part of my studies, i'm trying to do the dynamic analysis on a crankshaft (correct me if i'm wrong).I'm getting tutorials only for Modal analysis but not for Dynamic analysis.

Which solver is better for this (either Optistruct or Radioss).I would be better if you could suggest some tutorials.

    Hi VenkatReddy,

What type of Dynamic analysis are you interested in?

Is it frequency based or time based? Is there any non-linearity involved?

If you are intersted in Linear dynamic analysis which is frequency based, you can look into Frequency response analysis, if it is time based then look for Transient response analysis in OptiStruct help.

    Hi prakash,

    Thank you for your reply.

My aim is to check the strength of the crankshaft, after removing some material (for example from counter weights). After material removal whether it's going sustain the forces or not,if so how much it will change.i don't think we have non-linearity.

I am student and i don't have much experience with dynamic analysis.

Could you please suggest, which is better to follow either frequency based or time based analysis. If possible please provide some tutorial links.

    Hi Venkat,

It completely depends on the loads you have and type of loads.

You can refer to any past papers to get some idea to choose the type of analysis for prediction of strength/stiffness etc...

You can find tutorials for both transient and frequency response analysis on OptiStruct help:
