Can an optimization be performed by using symmetric boundary condition. As giving symmetric BC's can drastically reduce solution time, by using same symmetric BC's in the model can we do optimization in optistruct. Will it affect the result of optimized model or not?

What type of optimization are you running, It is possible.
Even if the loads are not symmetric, you can enforce using symmetric constraints.
