Hi,

I am uploading a model that has 2 material data cards one is a non linear card other is a linear. When I use the non linear card I get an error.

1) Could you tell me where in my non linear material data card I have done a wrong input?

2) Also it is a rope when I see my results in h3d I can only see it elongating for the elastic material. Why isn't it returning back? You can check the simple velocity function that is defined like for 1sec and then zero remaining seconds?

yours sincerely,

kartik

    Hi Kartik,

Truss elements are not compatible with /MAT/LAW36. Hence you are getting the error. Please go through Material Compatibility in RADIOSS Help Menu which will show the property-material compatibility.

With the function I don't think we can create a retracting movement. You can put negative value in the function and can try.

Check with the attached .h3d file.

    Hi George P.Johnson,

I couldn't understand the negative value in the function. Something like I need to define after the force is applied and removed, should I define the rate at which it will retract (excluding the elements in the component that experienced plastic strain)?

    Hi Kartik,

Just reviewed your model. For this case, use spring element. And in /IMPVEL load give an appropriate Tstop so that after that Tstop time based on the spring stiffness retraction will happen.

I;m attaching your modified model. Please go through.
