To find optimal rivet numbers and arrangement using CBEAM and RBE2 to represent Rivets

Hi, 

  The objective of my work is to find the optimal rivet arrangement and numbers when using composite material to represent the steel. However, creating 3D solid models of rivets are too complex due to the large number of rivets. Therefore, my idea is to create rivets using CBEAM and RBE2 (Figure 1 for 2D model, Figure 2 for 3D model) in Optistruct 13.0 refering the link:

and check the stress or force of rivets. If the composite components begin to fracture and the stress or force value of rivets is not larger than the failure criteria, we will admit the number and arrangement of rivets are correct.     Do you want to reduce the number of rivets in your case?You could refer to below OptiStruct online tutorial.
