Hallo Team,

I am using Optisruct 2017.2 for Transient Analysis and I request your help for the following problems:

1. My model contains bearings, for which i need to assign/create as rigidbody. How do I create?

2. Is transient analysis be performed in Optistruct?

Thanks in advance.

    1.Did you try using 1d>rigid

2.Yes, you can refer to OS reference guide examples OS-1310, OS-1315

    Hi Tinh,

    Thanks for your reply.

    1. I haven't tried using 1D's. I created using Rigidbodies ( RBODY ).But I am facing problems with ref.node. in PRBODY card.

    2. I will go through the above mentioned tutorials.

    Regards,

    Rajasekhar

As I looked up OS reference guide, PRBODY is used for Multi-Body Simulation

maybe it's not suitable for Transient Analysis

panel 1d>rigid will create RBE2 binding all nodes of the bearing component, it will become rigid

    Hi Rajashekar,

Could you please let us know what are all the problems you are facing with RBODY in OptiStruct?

PROBDY is used to do the Multi-Body Simulation.

Maybe you can share the file for us to try RBE2 elements.

It is a method about MPC constrained.

    Hi Prakash,

For example : My model consists of Radiator fan assembly.

Parts in the assembly : Fan+Spindle+Bracket

I have to Analyse the Bracket in transient case.

    image.png.eccf6728a0ffc68fb2ebbe4710d69fe6.png

    >> bracket and spindle are connected through bolts/screws

    >> I considered Fan as rigid, since it is not my area of interest.

    >> Modelling rigid : Rbodies

create element/node set for the Fan

    now create RBODY

assign the element / node set of fan in ELEMENT sets

I have selected node1 as my ref node

load steps, controls cards are defined.

Try 1 : for ref node1 >> my solution says RUNNING. If I check the run status after 1 hr, It still says RUNNING but i my OUT file shows as in pic attached below.

    Try 2 : for ref node2 >> i got the results

    Try 3 : for ref nodes 3, 5, 4 >> same scenario as in TRY1

So what is the criteria for ref node selection for RBODY???

    Note #6 of RBODY card:

if you provide Ref node, please provide mass

otherwise, do not provide ref node
