Size Optimization of 1D Structure

Hi, 
I am trying to setup a size optimization of a beam structure modeled by 1D elements. The design variables here are the parameters of the beam section (PBEAML). Is it possible to apply a stress constraint to the beam elements? If it is not possible, is there a reason? It seems to be possible in MBD:
