I just created my Altair account with a student license, but when I navigate to the PSIM software in the Marketplace, the option to download it does not appear for me.

You have an active verified account with us, which means that you have access to student edition bundle. I suggest you log out of your Altair one account and re login to be able to see the student edition bundle.
