Iron Losses Computation Interpretation on Flux2D

Question

Description: I have some problems to interpret my results. I use Flux2D to compute Iron Losses in a motor that I have and i have export to Flux2D thanks to FluxMotor.

The results of the Iron Losses computation made with Bertotti Model are given in watt (W), but I don't understand how to get the full losses of the motor.

As I understood with documentation, I have to multiply the result by the number of poles because the FEA resolution is made only on one pole, but is it representative of the global iron losses ?

Thank you for your answer, I also need information about the computation of these losses over the electrical period.

I compute the FEA for just one slot step (15° because my motor is a 4 poles PMSM with 24 slots), to reduce FEA computation time. The iron losses should be periodic over a slot step and this is what I see when I compute several slot steps. But when I have to compute the losses, I have to choose between the full cycle or the not full cycle (apériodique) option. Do we talk about Electrical cycle ou the cycle over which the mean value is computed ? How this can affect my results ?

Also a other question : I want to compare the iron losses computation in Flux with the one obtained from the test part of FluxMotor for a sine wave point, I don't understand with which method (Bertotti or LS) it is obtained ?

Hi Erwann,

While computing iron losses, you choose the laminated regions (i.e. Stator and rotor). These laminated regions consider only the represented part of the faces in geometry.

To get global iron losses, you need to multiply the total iron losses obtained from Bertotti losses with number of periodicity of the motor.
