Hello everyone,
I am currently setting up a 3D Transient Magnetic simulation in Altair SimLab 2025 (Flux solver) and I am running into a connectivity issue where the software tells me that some of my parts (like the stator) need Topological Cuts.
To solve this and create the Electric Loop Cut and Magnetic circuit cuts, I did the following:
- I created internal faces directly on the 2D mesh of the body.
- I verified that the internal faces are created successfully.
- However, when I go to electric loop cuts and try to select this internal face, the selection filter doesn't allow it.
The software prompts me to "select the CAD face" instead of the 2D meshed face I just created.
My questions:
- Why am I not able to select the 2D meshed internal face for the cut? The documentation from Altair Simlab (Cuts) implies that an internal 2D face can be selected, but the selection filter seems strictly limited to CAD topology.
- What is the correct workflow to create these internal faces directly within SimLab so they are recognized by the Cut tool? Do I need to split the actual 3D CAD body using the Geometry tools before meshing?
Thank you
