Hello,
What are the best practices for modeling the rotor hub–blade connection in transient simulations? Should a gap be introduced between the blades and the hub? Is it preferable to remove the hub entirely? Or should a gap be defined between the hub and the fixed geometry while allowing the hub to rotate?
Thanks !
Hi Hugo Long,
Typically we will leave some gap between the hub and blades. Or even better if we can remove the hub entirely as it'll make your simulation run much faster. We typically apply wake termination nodes at the root of the blade, so that it mimic the hub effect.
