Help with running Optimize in Inspire

Question

I have a new install of Inspire that I am following tutorials to get familiar with the UI. I ran an optimization this morning that produced some results but were different from the tutorial videos results. I ended up remodelling a part of the structure as it was extruded in the wrong direction and when I ran the next optimization it will begin to run, the status bar doesn't show 100% but clicking show run displays that it has completed and a time that it finished at. Reading the .out file I have bad termination of one of your application processes and shows exit status (c0000138) each new run that I attempt. Other files show that meshing was completed successfully for all 4 parts. The solver launches 4 parallel process which all immediately crash with exit status (c0000138) the run history path is set to C:\Users\Noah\Documents\Altair\extensions but the run folders auto generated by Inspire contain special characters like % and brackets ( ). This is a brand new install of 2026 which is installed in C:\Program Files\Altair\2026 and I don't see any updates that are available to try.  Is the model file corrupted somehow?

I am running Windows 10 with

* CPU: 4 core 8 logical processors

* RAM: 24GB DDR3 1600MHz

* GPU: Nvidia RTX 3050

How can I fix this issue as I need to learn the basics for a course project with much more detailed geometry that will likely take hours to compute an optimization? I have attached the model and some relevant files.

I ran a simple test case of a cantilever beam with an face support at one end and a concentrated load at the other end. The FEA runs fine but after deleting old optimize files and having the run path folder location as C:/Users/Noah/Documents/Altair/2026/Inspire disabling my antivirus software on all parent folders containing altair files and install files as well as running as an administrator with one core, the same bad termination error occurs. The new run file autocreated by Altair contains special characters again despite me not defining this C:\Users\Noah\Documents\Altair\2026\Inspire\optimization\cantilever_test_caseMaxStiff30%(2)3-27-2026_10-11-57

I don't know how to run the C++ redistributables install/repair should I attempt to do this or should I just completely uninstall and reinstall a new version of Inspire 2026? Attached are the most recent error logs and the model of the cantilever beam I made.

This issue is very unlikely to be caused by a corrupted model; instead, it points to a problem with the solver’s runtime environment. The exit status (c0000138) typically indicates a DLL initialization failure, which is commonly triggered by invalid file paths, missing Visual C++ runtime libraries, or issues with launching parallel solver processes. In your case, the biggest red flag is that the run folders contain special characters like % and brackets ( ). These can interfere with how the solver and its parallel (MPI) processes interpret paths, often causing them to crash immediately even though meshing completes successfully. To fix this, first change the run history directory in Inspire to a simple path such as C:\AltairRuns with no special characters or spaces, then delete old run folders and restart the software. If the issue persists, install or repair the Microsoft Visual C++ redistributables (especially 2013 and 2015–2022 versions), run Inspire as an administrator, and temporarily disable antivirus software that might block solver processes. You can also try running the solver on a single core to check if the crash is related to parallel execution. Overall, this is almost certainly an environment or configuration issue rather than a problem with your geometry.
