Hey all! I'm doing an assignment for a FEM course in my university. The scenario has a beam in the x-axis and a moment applied in the negative y-axis at the beam tip. The issue is that the beam does not deflect as expected. Instead of the tip bending upwards, the middle of the beam starts moving upwards and then backwards till the beam eventually ends up in a circle. This would be the expected final result, but the path to the result is incorrect. I tried running the same scenario in a linear analysis and the result makes sense with the beam tip deflecting upwards. I'm really not sure if I have made a mistake in the nonlinear setup or if there is something else going wrong. I would really appreciate any help with the issue! I have attached the .hm and .fem file along with pictures of the result.
Hi,
the solution is correct, you are using the wrong animation option. Please switch to "Transient" and you will see the correct deformation.
Kind Regards
