Hi,
I am currently working on a 2D transient magnetic model of an electric motor in SimLab. I am trying to model the stator winding using a Litz wire representation.
Here is what I have done so far:
- Created the motor geometry in 2D.
- Constructed the Litz wire cross-section (multiple strands inside one slot).
- Merged all individual wire strand faces into a single “nut” (single face region).
- Assigned the merged region as a coil conductor and connected it to a circuit. (as shown in the figure)
When I start solving the model, I receive the warning:
“Found intersecting / penetrating / overlapping elements. Do you want to ignore and continue (Yes) or display (No)?”
If I click “Yes”, the solver still does not run and stops with a geometry error.
My questions are:
- What is the correct way to model Litz wire in 2D transient magnetic analysis in Simlab?
- Is merging all strand faces into one region causing penetrating geometry?
- Is there a recommended method to assign Litz wire as a coil conductor in 2D?
- How can I properly clean or repair the geometry to remove the intersection error?
My goal is to create an accurate 2D Litz wire model of the motor without geometry errors during solving.
Any guidance or recommended workflow for modeling Litz wire in 2D SimLab would be highly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
