Read excel and read CSV are not working well

My problem is that the Read Excel and Read CSV operators are not working well. It is possible to load files into them and run them but it is not possible to select the attributes.

PS When I use a a proces (.rmp) from a fellow student which uses a read Excel then it is possible to select attributes but when I load a file of my own in that operator Read Excel that is not possible. Same goes for using the tutorial examples. (I see there the attributes and I can change them but I am unable to change the file in that specific Read Excel operator.

PS I already Uninstalled RM and Installed it again but that did not fixed the problem !!

Hi @Leen,

Could you say what you mean by selecting attributes? I have loaded the Read Excel tutorial and here am looking at the parameters of Read Excel, and can't see where attributes might be selected:

Also, when I look at the results of the process I see a table which will sort on any attribute I select - is this what you mean by being allowed to select an attribute?

Dear Nicholas,
Thank you for trying to help me. The Golf example is clear to me. No problem.
Point is that I want to select attributes out of the ReadExcel operator by the Select Attributes operator.
And that is what my problem (but in fact the problem of the RM program) is.
I do not see any attribute. Also not when I point the mouse-pointer on the ReadExcel operator or on the file that is in the repository.
Is it the programs that fails, it is me or is it something with adjustments or or or do I need a good working EM program???????

Thanks for responding at my problem.
Yes, what yoy showed should be as expected. But that does not go for my experinece inn using ReadExcel and ReadCSV.I just cannot see the atributes so the operator Select Attributes cannot be deployed.See the screendump:

The file in read Excel can be seen by running and the results is

So there is data in ReadExcel but the attributes are not showed.
What also not works is that putting the mousepointer at a file in the repository does not give info about the file.I saw in a RM youtube file that they demomstrate the content of a file but by m eiot does not work.

I really hope it is possible to solve this problem because I am having stress because I have to deliver this assignment at coming Monday for a final grade of the course Data Analytics.!!

Hi Leen,

Yes that does help. Oddly, when I create a process which looks just like yours, I do see the attributes:

199158.rmp.txt

I have attached my process (I had to rename it to a .txt file in order to upload it - after you download it, please rename it back to .rmp. Could you please try importing my process and see if it works, and also export your process (to a .rmp file, which you will also need to rename to a .rmp.txt file).

And could you tell me what version of AI Studio you are using?

But I do not have received your E-mail with that .txt file.

Hi @Leen,

Is it possible your File Explorer is not showing filename extensions?

When I look at my comment with the attachment, I am able to save the link by right clicking on it and then selecting "Save link as…"

And then it tries to save it as an xml file, but in the dialog box I can change it to show all files instead of xml files:

Then I can change the filename to 199158.rmp:

And now that I've saved the file onto my disk, I can import it into AI Studio by selecting File→Import Process:

Similarly, when your own process is loaded, you can export it as a proc.rmp file as selecting File→Export Process. Then you will have to rename it to proc.rmp.txt in order to attach it, then you can select the paperclip icon in order to attach it.

I can make an export but it does not give an extension and when I put a ,txt behind it then this comment canvas does not want to upload it.

Thanks @Leen I received your process (attaching it here), and it does work properly for me. The issue may be some setting in AI Studio, but at this point you will need to open a Support ticket so that someone can have a screensharing session with you.

Hi again @Leen ,

As we both discovered, as a student, you actually do not have access to the Altair Support system.

You mentioned that you also have an Apple computer. Wherever you have downloaded the Windows installer, you should be able to select OS X instead of Windows:

You will then see two different installers - I recommend trying one - if AI Studio does not run properly, then uninstall it and try the other installer.
