Why do the tracks 'explode' at the beginning of my MotionView vehicle simulation?

Hi,

I am trying to run a simulation in MotionView for a tracked vehicle towing another tracked vehicle. When I solve the run, however, the tracks on both vehicles seem to 'explode' (please see the attached short video). Note that this problem occurs when simulating a single vehicle, too.

I am running a Static + Transient simulation to allow the system to settle before the Transient portion of the simulation is calculated, but the problem persists. How can I prevent this initial 'explosion' of the tracks?

Hello @VidM,

I believe you are using a rigid road for the contact? Make sure you have followed properly the documentation regarding rigid contact Create Tracks. I suspect that there might be some initial penetration in your model that creates this initial unstable behavior. I would suggest to try moving the road down a little bit and try again by running just a transient simulation. You can also share the model if you want me to take a look at it. You'll need to go to File→ Export→ Model and then check archive and zip options.

Hi @VidM,

In addition to @Orestis_YB's great comment, I have also observed this behaviour if the sprockets are in initial contact with the links. Please double-check that the teeth of the sprockets are not penetrating the links or tracks at initialization.
