Flux 2024 Topology optimization through PyFlux

Hello,

I have a question related to topology optimization in Flux 2024.

I would like to launch the optmization manually, by writing a .py script and running it in the Python editor zone of Flux. I need to run it manually because I would like to use an input .fem file that is not automatically generated, rather written by me (the automatic .fem file doesn't contain some additional set up specifications for the optimization in Optistruc that I need).

Is it possibile? And if yes how/which expression should I put in my .py file?

If no, is these anything similar I can do to add some set up parameters present in the optimization in Optistruct that are not available in the parameters that can be changed in Flux?

Hello Laura,

The optimization method coupling OptiStruct methods and Flux results is kind of mixed here and you cannot make it your own the way you want I'm afraid as it needs to read in directly some Flux solvers results to build gradients and understand which way to iterate next.

If the python is there for postprocessing, again there is a way to create additional responses by combining the ones you get directly using a Compose script if needed. What response do you need ?

However, I can recommend using SimLab 26 instead of Flux to run topology optimisation because we can now define separately both EM and Structural solution and then ask SimLab to drive this coupled topology optimisation. The main advantage is that you can define more complex Optistruct loadcase and have more freedom. In particular contacts and specific boundary conditions can be used compared to Flux.
