I am unable to start Altair Inspire due to license errors.
I have tried the recommended troubleshooting methods; however, the Activate button is not active.
To resolve this issue, I ran the almutil_gui.exe file as an administrator,and I choosed system instead of user in license store. But I then encountered a SOAP error as fallows.
Could you please advise how to fix this issue and properly activate my license?
I am unable to start Altair Inspire due to license errors.
When launching the software, I receive the following errors:
- Error Code: 15 – [NETWORK] 6200@localhost : Unable to connect to license server
- Error Code: -40 –
Requested feature name was not found in licenses - Features mentioned: GlobalZoneEU, HyperWorks, HWInspire
The license log indicates an issue related to the altair_lic.dat file. The license path is not properly defined or cannot be read, which prevents Inspire from connecting to the license server. As a result, the required license features cannot be checked out and the activation process fails.
Could you please provide the correct altair_lic.dat file or confirm the correct configuration for my setup?
I am using a Student / EDU license with Altair Managed Licensing (ALM) on Windows.
I have already tried reinstalling Inspire and Altair License Manager, running as administrator, checking firewall/antivirus settings, and confirming that no proxy is enabled. However, the issue still persists.
I am running Altair Inspire 2026 on Windows 11 Home (64-bit) with 32 GB RAM using a Student / EDU license (ALM) and I am experiencing license activation problems.
