When I tried plotting motion ratio vs time, it showed a straight line (zero value). I have attached the warning in the motion solve window.
Hi @premkumar_07 ,
Could you please let us know which version that you are running? The function Motion Ratio was not introduced until V2025.0. If you are running an earlier version, you will receive this warning message. If your version is 2025.0 or greater. Could you please share the archive model (File > Export> Model> Archive Model)?
Best,
Christopher Fadanelli
Thanks @premkumar_07 ,
It looks like .rar files are not supported on this site. For the future, I would suggest to use .zip files.
The issue resides in the function type and location called in each solver variable. Please update the type to PYTHON and the location file to <installation directory>hwsolvers\motionsolve\bin\win64\msauto\msauto_susp.py
Once completed, you will be able to view results for the motion ratio.
Hello @premkumar_07, The one you've attached is with respect to Wheel Center Displacement. The one that @Christopher_Fadanelli is showing is with respect to time. Have you tried changing X Type data? I have used the default front suspension and I've performed a KnC with Ride, Roll and Steer analysis. Here are the results.
On the left we have motion ratio with respect to time and on the right motion ratio with respect to wheel vertical displacement. As you can see on time we have large values especially after 20 sec while the same behavior is observed when wheel displacement is 0. As motion ratio is defined as suspension travel divided by wheel travel, we cannot numerically calculate it when wheel travel becomes 0. Based on the above you could use limit on time to exclude steering analysis as well as the initialization where wheel displacement is zero. I have used time values from 1-18 sec and then I fit Y-axis. On motion Ratio to Wheel displacement Graph I have limit the values of Motion Ratio from 0.8 to 1.2. As you can see it's close to the graph you've shared with the exception around 0.
Hope this helps! Best regards, Orestes
Hello @Christopher_Fadanelli
I am using 2025 version and I have attached the model. Thanks!!
It looks like there was an issue with uploading the model.
I will send you an email with a filedrop link. Please send the model there and I will answer in this thread.
Hi @Christopher_Fadanelli I have attached the file to the link you shared. Thanks,
