Hey everyone,
I have an assembly of parts (created on NX) and imported into Hypermesh -Radioss to setup a dynamic analysis. I have a cylindrical rod which has a circular edge marked where it goes inside a 2D surface with circular hole. I need to define a contact such that these nodes remain in contact (the part is free to deform and show plastic strain when I apply a dynamic load case). I tried using the following methods:
1) I tried using RBE2, RBE3 connectors by selecting all the nodes on the edge - but this makes the model either too rigid (no plastic strain) or too flexible (assembly position is disrupted).
2) I cannot create spring/beam elements between RBE2 centers as the central nodes of both circles coincide.
3) I tried using TYPE 2 (tie constraint), TYPE 7 (general contact) and TYPE 11 (line contact), by selecting one circle's nodes as slave, and another circle's elements along the edge, but during analysis I always run into an error:
ERROR ID : 78
** ERROR: UNDEFINED NODE NUMBER
DESCRIPTION :
IN SURFACE DEFINITION NUMBER: 3
NODE ID=0 DOES NOT EXIST
In short, it is basically an assembly contact between a 2D surface with a circular hole and a cylinder), but how do I tackle this in Radioss and achieve a realistic contact? Kindly drop your suggestions!
