How to add * in a date field-before and after the date?

I would like to be able to take a date field and add an * before and after it and I need some assistance. I would like the date to display like: *02-28-18*.

I have tried everything I can think of short of purchasing the Kutools add on for excel.

You need to create a new calcualted/formula field with the data type of "character". You can then use the following formula:

"*"+dtoc([Original Date])+"*"

where [Original Date] should be substituted with the correct field name. Since you will be outputing a character data type, you need to convert the date field from a date data type to a character data type (dtoc).
