Magnet segmentation in Fluxmotor

Hi,

I would like to segment magnets in a surface mounted permanent magnet machines in Fluxmotor. But I cannot seem to find a 'Magnet type' to do so. I also need flexibility in terms of how many segments I need to make. How can I achieve this in Fluxmotor?

Hi Faisal,

The option of "Parametric capability" is removed for version 2025.1. The part is by default exported as parametric one.

Can you check if the path for SimLab is defined correctly or not?

Add SimLab path to FluxMotor Supervisor.pdf

Hi Faisal,

At present, we do not have the feature to define number of segments for the magnets directly.

You can create a custom part using SimLab with parameterization on segments and use it in FluxMotor.

Hello Lavanya,

I watched the video you mentioned above. After some attempts I managed to create the desired part (preliminary version at least) in Simlab. However, when I try to export it to Fluxmotor, I do not see the option for "Parametric capability" while exporting. Also, when I try to import from Fluxmotor, it keeps asking for a Part folder. The exported files from Simlab do not seem to be recognized by Fluxmotor. Can you please help me identify the problem?

Simlab version: 2025.1

Fluxmotor version: 2024.1

Could the versions be an issue?

Good afternoon,
Getting both the Simlab and Fluxmotor to 2025.1 version did help Fluxmotor identify the Part exported from Simlab. However, I still cannot see the option for "Parametric capability" while exporting rom Simlab. I see the following error when I try to select the newly created Magnet part in my Fluxmotor model.

"SimLab environment variable not set.

Failed to replace the rotor by User_InnerMagnet.Fluxmotor_pmseg.

Ticket Number : #100.13.508 #100.13.315"

Please advise as to how I can see this option.

Thank you for your help and clarification. My model works now.

Just a feedback comment for improvement:

I did realize that while creating a parametric model in SimLab, we define default values for certain parameters. It seems to happen that when the default parameter value is physically unrealizable in Fluxmotor, Fluxmotor gives an error and does not allow you to use the Imported part. This happens even before we can define the parameters again in Fluxmotor. I was only able to do use the imported part in Fluxmotor, when I went back to SimLab and redefined the default values in SimLab model. Perhaps Altair team can look into this.
