Description: Usage and limitations of Hypermesh and FlightStream for specific flight conditions in CFD analysis
Product/Topic Name : Hypermesh, Hypermesh CFD, Hyperworks, FlightStream
Hi everyone!
My team is having difficulties evaluating the options with Altair softwares on CFD analysis on specific flight conditions. We are working with a tight schedule on a academic project wich consists in varying speeds from 0.1 to 2.8 Mach, external and steady flow, compressible. We will focus specifically on drag, normal force and pitching moment coefficients.
Our first tries were unsuccessful on obtaining good results, and both Altair and our academic advisors pointed out that AcuSolver is not suited to these flight conditions. In another try, this time going with FlightStream, we also didn't obtain good results, supposedly because of the semi-empiric solvers used - something we don't want.
We are urgently evaluating alternatives to continue our project with Altair, and recognise we still lack a lot of knowledge in the subject. What options/configurations/solvers/softwares does Altair provide wich are suited to theses conditions? Are there any limitations or particular difficulties with Altair products? If so, wich ones? Does anyone have experience with similar simulations, and could share the precision and reliability of the results achived?
Thanks to all very much in advance!
