Inspire Structure strange results

Hi. I have set up a structural analysis model of a beam with with sliding contacts at each end connecting to pins that are supported/fixed, a force is applied to the centre of the beam. Despite the model being completely symmetrical with the same contacts on each side,

the results show that each pin has a different amount of stress (around 10% different between each side).

Can anyone advise why this is and how I can fix or improve it?

Hi there,

Looking at the picture you shared, looks like the force is applied more towards the center left of the assembly. It makes sense that the force is producing higher Von-Misses at the right side due the overall momentum there is bigger than the momentum produced at the left side contacts.

Hi @Nile,

@Ovando_RBB is correct, it looks like the force you are applying is off-center.

When you select a face for the location of the force, it is not equally distributed. To locate the load at a specific location, you can Move the force to a point or to a geometry selection:

Try relocating the force to the center of the part (at the center of the hole) and see if the forces balance out.
