Using of composite failure constraint in phase 2 size optimization.

Hi,

I am using size optimization to create a laminate which is subjected to an out of plane load. I want to use a composite failure constraint to determine the minimum size that the different directions of plies need. However, during this stage of optimizing, the composite failure constraint is sensitive to the location (in z) of plies and it 'wants' to remove the outer plies.

I used the total and smear definition for the laminates and for both cases, the optimization results in favouring the plies closer to the core.

Is there a way, or workaround, to use the composite failure constraint during this optimization step/phase?

Kind regards,

Emil
