Electronics EMC and Thermal Testing Software

Description: My company is looking into using software for EMC (radiated susceptibility/emissions and conducted susceptibility/emissions) and thermal testing of PCB assemblies to prevent added costs of redesign and retesting. I am uncertain exactly what the differences are between some of the programs and what all the options are. For the EMC testing, I see that SimModel, SimScale and SimLab would be options. What would be the main differences between these for our application? Also, what is recommended for thermal analysis of electronics?

Hello Andrew,

EMC is a broad Multiphysics topic. In most cases, you need to use a set of tools running step by step to limit the risk of EMC noncompliance. The best way is the small-steps method, when you follow your product design process with small, manageable steps, reducing the risk of EMC. Analyzing the entire product with one tool and simulating the product as a whole is typically hard to achieve in a reasonable time.
