Pin loaded test (Composite Crushing) Radioss

Hi
I have been trying to model the crushing failure of composites with Radioss under a pin-loaded setup. I use MATLAW 25 with the CRASURV formulation for the composite. I don't use any additional failure criteria. I have established Type 7 contact between my pin and composite. When I try to run it,

I either get Node xxxx deactivated from the interface error, or I get Time step less or equal zero error

I have attached my model files. Any help on this will be greatly appreciated.

Can you share the T01 time history and 0001.out files to help understanding the problem?

If you believe the issue is related to contact, you may try TYPE 25 contact (https://help.altair.com/hwsolvers/rad/topics/solvers/rad/inter_type25_starter_r.htm). The contact penalty is constant and usually cause less problem in time step and stability.

    Hi,
I suggest reducing the stiffness of the contact, we recommend the following adjustments:

    • Remove the constraint located near the pin
    • Increase the mesh size
    • Define a minimum stiffness value (Stmin)
    • Increase the contact gap

Additionally, reducing the time step could be beneficial, as the current one results in a significant amount of added mass.

    Best regards,
