Why is segmentation error coming so frequently which irritates to work?

I am facing segmentation error whenever I use quick selection through Alt+by face/path or any other option and also if I try to select manually. This completely affect productivity and the flow of work. Altair employees suggested me to run the batch file from the C drive, Yes I have run the same, but nothing has changed. Again and again I am facing the same issue whenever I choose elements through quick selection mode that is also in the particular portion, I have check duplicates as well, as Altair employees asked me to check duplicates of elements.

It went after deleting the particular portion of the mesh which took me to mesh more 3 hrs. Kindly do check this option and provide proper solution and upgrade this….

I have informed this to Altair since I am using HM 2024 version, Currently I am using 2025 version which is recently launched …… In 2025 also same error/issue I am facing.

I would also make an official support request as if the solution isn't resolved by following the article, we will need to collect more information about your system for diagnostics.

As I frequently use this feature and don't have the issues, it sounds like something specific to your hardware/graphics environment or the file itself if reproducible on other systems.

Thanks for your reply…… actually Altair team already checked our system specifications and driver versions….. They said it is fine (fulfilling the requirements)

And I would like to tell you that I have found what is causing this segmentation error and the solution as well…

Things that I have found to resolve this error ….

If there are any free edges in the mesh (where three components intersect like weld locations), there it is throwing this segmentation error …. I have checked these two three times yesterday (21.04.2025) and showed this to Altair team as well…. they said they will take this to their developers for further update….
Check adjacent components as well if it is connecting to the error coming particular components.
If anywhere it finds the free edges in the particular integration location, then maximum times you will get this segmentation error while doing quick selection through manual and as well as through Alt + Selection.
If there are duplicate elements found, then also HM struggle to do quick selection operation.

If you are already in contact with customer support, I will let them handle it. I have not noticed these specific issues however. Might be something specific to the model vs issue with software.
