Nonlinear contact inertia relief

Hello everyone,

I am performing a non linear analysis on a motor assembly. It consists of two loadsteps connected using CNTNLSUB(SCID)

  1. Intereference fit between the stator and the housing
  2. A moment applied to simulate the applied torque in the motor

I have to run the interference fit load step with non linear contact and inertia relief. Can I use the INREL, - 2 along with IR4NLCON to get the automatic boundary conditons for the interference fit. Followed by a constraint (SPC) and moment. However, when the inertia relief is selected, will it be carried forward to the next loadcase as well? Any help to setup this model is deeply appreciated as I have been struggling from a few days.

    Hello,

    the solution sequence should be allowed. Inertia relief is applied to the unconstrained subcase and then it is switched off for the constrained subcase.

    I have attached an .out file with an example. You can see rigid body forces are applied in the 1st subcase, but not in the 2nd.

    Hello Alberto, thank you so much for your feedback. I have attached a few screenshots of the load case setup and the INREL card. Additionally, how do it get the Inertia Relief related outputs in the output card to check?

    You can add PARAM,PRINFACC,1 the rest is fine.
