I am working on simulating Friction Stir Processing (FSP), where the material undergoes severe plastic deformation, leading to grain refinement and microstructural changes. I want to analyze how the grain size reduces and how the microstructure evolves during the process.

Could you please suggest which Altair software and simulation approach would be best suited for this? Specifically, I am looking for tools that can handle:

  • Large plastic deformation modeling
  • Grain size evolution and microstructure changes
  • Thermal and mechanical coupling during FSP

Any guidance on the workflow, solver selection, or available features would be greatly appreciated.

Also, please suggest if I could use Altair inspire for this?
