EDEM problem.

Hi Everyone,
Recently, I have been using EDEM to simulate the process of a cotton fiber falling from a height and landing on the ground, but I have encountered some issues. The cotton fiber rebounds too high upon hitting the ground, and it also breaks apart during the collision with the ground. The cotton fiber model is composed of spherical and cylindrical particles connected end-to-end, and the particles are linked using the Bonding V2 model. My understanding of the Bonding V2 model is that as long as the forces between the particles do not exceed the normal strength and shear strength, the fiber should not break. However, no matter how much I increase the normal strength and shear strength, the fiber still breaks. Do you have any good suggestions?
Best regards,
Bai

Hi Bai,
The reason for Bonding not forming is you define Bonding V2 model first please move to last i.e after rolling friction model bond will form
As you mentioned until normal and shear strength exceeds the bond should not break, However, Please check below points
- If the bond is breaking before hitting the ground or other Particles, please check your factory settings or time step i.e time step might be higher you should reduce the time step
- If the bond is broken after hitting the ground/geometry, please check the velocity of the particles and Normal and Tangential bond forces
Also the bond normal and shear strength which you are using doesn't make any sense. please use values between 1e5 to 1e6 or lower.
Also, Shear modulus choose lower i.e 1e7 to 1e8 to reduce computational time and quick fix.
