Solving stopped in the middle of A solving scenario --- FLUX 3D steady state AC magnetic

Dear FLUX community,

I am building a model which accounts for every strand of conductor in bundle (Please see the diagram attached). This model has real end-winding connection and it has passed all the checks before solving. Another thing maybe helpful is that this model does not use aided mesh and all the mesh information is defined by user. As for the relaxation, only one null relaxation face is assigned to the baseline face of round conductors to ensure consistent meshing (The model is built in 2D and all the other corresponding conductor faces/volumes are related to each other).

This model seems to be good to solve, but the solving process stops in the middle of scenario with this warning that I copied from report file:

[87977|1664036161591|498|INFO ][ErrorManager|ErrorManager.createFortranException] : Type: 500 Message: INV => Problem with Hyper-Matrix DETPG
[87978|1664036161592|498|INFO ][Fortran.Error|ErrorManager.createFortranException] : Type: 500 Message: INV => Problem with Hyper-Matrix DETPG
[87979|1664036161606|500|INFO ][Fortran.Error|ErrorManager.addMessageToException] : Type: 1 Message: INV => Singular matrix for volume element 236089
Non managed error which has stopped solving process
[87981|1664036166424|30|INFO ][Fortran.Error|ErrorManager.addMessageToException] : Type: 1 Message: Non managed error which has stopped solving process
[87982|1664036166425|30|INFO ][Fortran.Error|ErrorManager.addMessageToException] : Type: 1 Message: PBEPAV_3 => Error 49, no treated error type
[87983|1664036166425|30|INFO ][Fortran.Error|ErrorManager.addMessageToException] : Type: 1 Message: PBCEVL_4 => failed

And the volume element 236089 mentioned in report file is one of the end-winding regions and at first I thought something is wrong with geometry and I actually have built another similar model but it gives same warning message. I think the problem is in the setting of relaxation lines/faces/volumes or maybe shadows? I have tried many other methods that I can think of many times and it all didn't work. Can someone help me with this please! I am ok with sharing this model.

    Hi Yangyu Sun,

    Suppose you have an entire closed solid conductor, with a hole in it, associated to each turn. In that case, you need to create an electric loop cut for each closed solid conductor, manually, (by selecting a cross-section face), Physics>Electric loop cut>New or automatically, Physics>Electric loop cut>Automatic creation of cuts.

    Best regards,

    Alexandru

    Thanks for your reply and I have one more question: the solid conductors does have closed loop but I don't think there is a hole in it? For this kind of conductor, the electrical terminals are defined by internal terminals (I use command: assign terminals of solid conductor ---> then select inlet face ---> then select line defining current direction). In this way, Do I still need to define the electric loop cut?

    In the mean time, I will follow your instructions and have a go.

    Hello Yangyu Sun,

    As Alexandru-Ionel Constantin wrote, you can try with the automatic electric cuts if you have solid conductor, but sometimes this operation can take a lot of time. If this happens, you can try to create another geometric cut in the conductors in order to speed up the automatic process or manually assign the cuts.

    If you still find problem, you can open a new ticket in the support area and attached the model; it will be more easily for us to understand the problem and help you.

    Thank you and best regards,

    Letizia

    Hey Letizia,

    I have just tried the automatic electrical cut, there goes another warning: A solid conductor (regions) is connected to only one terminal.

    I also searched the electrical loop cut in HELP DOCUMENT, it says 'It's not necessary to add an electric loop cut in the particular case of a closed solid conductor supplied by an external circuit.' For my model, I have an external electrical circuit associated with the geometry. Can I send you my model so you can have a look at it?

    Hello Yangyu Sun,

    Yes, sure! I suggest you to use the support section and create a new ticket.

    It is better for you in order to share your model only with us.

    Regards,

    Letizia

    Thanks Letizia, I have already created the ticket and my model is now being checked by one of the technicians.
